On the day of Avani Avittam, Ezhai Kolam with Kavi is drawn in the threshold and in the pooja room.
So it is necessary to do Upakarma and Uthsarjana every year. Avani Avittam - Procedure: Those who follow Yajur Veda and Rig Veda perform Upakarma on the full moon day in the month of Avani (Tamil month), while those who follow Sama Veda perform Upakarma on Ganesh Chathurthi. Due to our using Vedic chants for various purposes as well as our not being in a position to follow all the rules, make such chanting of Vedas very weak. Any actions done with such strengthened Vedic chants, would give good and better results. These help the already learnt Vedic chants shine with great vigor. Upakarma (action Redemption) and Uthsarjana (learning of Vedas). DUE TO COVID lockdown and possible restrictions in place, Year 2021 SAMA VEDA UPAKARMA will be conducted as a Virtual event and details are available upon.
Samaveda Upakarma is generally observed on Hasta Nakshatra day in Bhadrapada Month (Aavani Masam). Sama Veda Upaakarma is followed by Sam Vedi Brahmins in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
Hindupad suggests the devotees to follow the suggestion of local pundits / local panchangams. There is some confusion with the date of Sama Upakarma 2021, as almost all calendars mentioned it as 9 September but few calendars mentioned it as otherwise (13 August).
